Theme of The Game
Hephaestus, the god of fire in Ancient Greece, is the main character and source of inspiration in this new Microgaming release. God of Fire is going to take the player to a blacksmith’s forge, showing us plenty of fire in the background image, but not so much on its reels. It’s not the best design I’ve ever seen, there is definitely room for some improvement there.
A number of symbols shown on those black reels will feature Royals initially, followed by icons showing us helmets, an amphora, a marble pillar, and even Hephaestus himself.
Developer
Northern Lights Gaming and Microgaming are the two names behind the development of this slot machine. Among the other games that we’ve seen from them in the past, I’d mention slots like All Star Knockout and Divine Diamonds.
How To Play God of Fire Slot Demo
The wager selection is done directly, for the entire game area. You are free to select whatever wager you want, from within the range offered. The limits are at $0.10 (lowest) and at $50 (highest).
They’ve turned it into a slot machine with 243 ways to win, present on 5×3 reels. This can turn into a game area with 60+ million UltraWays. The ways to win system allows for a combo to form if the symbols are on consecutive reels, 3 or more starting from the left side. There are no fixed lines for the symbols to land on, so all potential combinations are covered.
Special Features
The UltraWays system allows symbols to land in variants from 1 to 4 symbols in a single position, which would boost the number of ways to win that are available. It’s possible to get up to 10 symbols in a combo, but the general rewards are fairly low even then. They would have to be though, as you can have up to 60 million ways to win active thanks to this mechanic.
Regular and Blue Wilds are used, and they work differently. The regular ones are just substitutes, which can also get you paid directly.
Blue Wilds can explode and will transform random positions on the reels, into wilds with 1-4 symbols in them. Additional Blue Wilds can also be obtained through this feature, and this can happen multiple times.
The free spins feature will involve the use of lives, rather than give you a fixed number of spins. You receive 1 life for each triggering scatter, with 3 to 5 possible then. Landing Skulls will remove 1 life, while Hearts will add 1.
There are a couple of extra features that can trigger at random, during the free spins:
- 2x to 10x multipliers which improve all wins of that round;
- UltraWays Upgrade will boost the number of ways to win by upgrading one type of symbol wherever it may be present;
- Exploding Wilds, where you get a regular symbol replaced with a Blue Wild.
Even near misses, the occasions when you get only 2 scatters on the reels, can be useful. You collect those scatters then, and once you get 60 of these events, you receive a Super Spin. Up to 5 lives are offered, in a free spins feature that has up to 20x multipliers and other modifiers (one is guaranteed each spin).
Maximum Payouts
I like the potential rewards, at 18,000x the stake they’re quite good, even though this is a slot machine with high volatility. You do need quite a few things to go right, in order to take advantage of what the slot can offer, since the volatility is high. Its RTP is 96.02%.
Summary
God of Fire has plenty to offer, and the UltraWays system alone could make it worth playing. At the same time, I would’ve loved a better design from it, as I’ve seen slots that are a decade old which look better.
