Theme of The Game
Hyper Gold is not the most story-driven slot machine that you’re going to find, on the contrary. Its entire design is based on money and precious metals, and on gold in particular. There are gold-colored Wild logos, Casino Chips, stacked gold bars in several versions, gold coins, even the Dollar Sign made out of the stuff. Eventually, we reach the Royals as well, symbols going from J to A. It’s a modern design, but not an interesting one.

The designer is Gameburger Studios, but the game is offered as an exclusive at Microgaming casinos, the way so many are these days. It’s even using the Link & Win feature, that appears to be a Microgaming brand, the name given to the streak re-spins that we’ve been seeing in so many slots so far.
How To Play It
Its regular betting range is between $0.10 and $20, but there is an additional option here, to activate a Win Booster. This multiplies the regular bet by 2.5x, so the range is now $0.25 to $50. In exchange, you get more Casino Chip symbols on the reels, for better odds at triggering the Link & Win feature.
The game area has 5×3 reels, and a total of 25 pay lines. You create your winning combinations by getting 3 or more matching symbols to land on the same line, and starting from the leftmost position.
Special Features
First of all, there will be a wild symbol on the game’s reels, and it can be incredibly useful. For one, you can create winning combinations with wilds alone, and this gets you prizes of up to 500x the stake for each combo. There is also the usual substitution ability that the wild has, along with the chance that it will expand to the top position, if it’s free.
A common feature in most slots, but always appreciated, the free spins have been changed somewhat here. You’re getting 10 rounds if you have the required 3 scatters in view. Once inside though, you will notice that the middle symbols are transformed, so that mega symbols can land on them. Each one occupies 3×3 positions, so they can do a lot to help you get multiple wins in a single round.
The one that appears to get most of the attention, is the Link & Win respin feature. The Casino Chip scatters are the ones that will take you inside, but you need at least 6 of them on the reels first. You start off with the triggering symbols, which become sticky. During the 3 respins that come next, you try to get more, as this will reset the number of rounds given, allowing you to keep playing for longer. Typically, it’s going to be mostly blanks that you will get.
At the end of the feature, you get a jackpot of up to 5,000x the stake if you filled the reels with Casino Chips, but even if you didn’t, each one will have a prize to give you.

The Link & Win feature might pay only up to 5,000x the stake, but the game appears to be capable of much more. The top jackpot that was announced for Hyper Gold is at 12,500x the stake, meaning that you could walk away with $250,000 cash.

Summary
Hyper Gold relies on a series of features that we’ve seen in other Microgaming slots in the past, so it’s not very original. It looks like a solid option otherwise, if you don’t mind the lack of originality.
