Theme of The Game
While they have a few other slot machines in the Toro series already, for this particular release ELK Studios seems to have wanted to shake things up a bit. They decided to add the series’ two main characters in a different setting, so they took Toro and Matador to North America, in the middle of the prairie. It’s as much as buffalo themed slot machine as it is about Toro in this case. There is a bit of a difference in design quality, between the symbols showing Toro and Matador, and the ones with local wildlife, but we can get past it.
Buffalo Toro has those two major symbols to deliver certain features, but the regulars will be the ones showing the standard six Royals (from Jack to Ace), plus the wildlife with the Bear, Wolf, Mountain Lion, Eagle, and Buffalo (top symbol).
Developer
With a good reputation overall, ELK Studios tends to deliver high quality slot machines, especially when it comes to unique features and graphics. They even have made several of the best slots online.
How To Play Buffalo Toro Slot Game
It’s a betting range with 100 coins in it, that’s always the case with their slots. The total value changes, from $0.20 to $50.
You will form combinations through its 4096 ways to win, which are found on 6×4 reels. The requirement is to get 3 to 6 symbols that match, from left to right on the slot’s columns.
Special Features
You will benefit from the help of several types of wilds inside. One is the regular wild, ready to replace a regular symbol, provided that a new combo gets to form then. Since the ways to win makes it easier for this to happen, the wild is more powerful than in regular slot machines.
There are also multiplier wilds that may help, and they boost wins by either 2x or 3x (random figure).
Toro is another wild, which will move towards the left by one position, until it leaves the reels. You get several respins, as this happens.
Matador Respins will trigger if you have at least 2 Matadors on the reels. The Matadors stay in their spots, and the respins continue if you keep getting new symbols of this type. Get Toro to show up, and the respins end early, triggering Toro Goes Wild.
Toro Goes Wild is a feature where Toro moves towards the Matador symbols, knocking them off, and leaving behind a trail of wilds.
Both regular bonus symbols and super bonus symbols (6th reel only) will appear, and may be used to trigger free spins or super free spins (if the super symbol is among those triggering the feature). 8 to 20 free spins are awarded to begin with. Inside, you collect Golden Buffalo symbols, and every 3 that you get will upgrade one of the premium symbols to top symbol status.
The super free spins have the Rampage Reels as an extra, and these will cover 1+ reels with buffalo symbols.
Maximum Payouts
Buffalo Toro pays unexpectedly well, up to 50,000x, particularly since it’s a highly volatile slot that has only a 94% RTP. ELK Studios doesn’t offer great RTP values in their recent releases, but they can still pay a lot if you get lucky.
Summary
Buffalo Toro is fun to play, specially the features. I wouldn’t give it a shot if you care about having as high a RTP as possible, as the 94% promised here doesn’t look great, and is below industry average.
