Juicy Fruits is a very popular, yet under-appreciated, slot in the Pragmatic Play portfolio. The game has a great bonus round but does come with a high volatility, higher than on most other Pragmatic slots. Juicy Fruits is one of my favourite slots from Pragmatic Play, so you can understand my excitement when I saw the brand-new Juicy Fruits Multihold slot go live. The Multihold feature is not new. It was already implemented on the Dog House slot, but it wasn’t too great. Here the designers used the same concept but did it much better, making Juicy Fruits Multihold a very interesting slot. My Own Experience Playing Juicy Fruits Multihold Slot

I managed to give the slot a few tries and my first few attempts were a bust. But I have to admit I didn’t really take the time to go through the bonus rules and see how the feature works. I thought I had a pretty good idea, but then I noticed some surprises on the reels which completely caught me off guard. This is when I had the biggest payout in the game so far, a bit over 800x the stake. After that, I knew that Juicy Fruits Multihold is a great slot and that I would come back to its reels many more times in the future.

Bonus Features and Payouts

The most interesting part of the game is the Wild symbol. It comes in the shape of a Crown, with a top payout of 20x the stake for 5 of them on a winning payline. So, the top payout per spin would be 400x the stake for a full screen of wilds. This can happen as during base play the wild can come covering a 1×1, 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 or a 5×5 grid on the screen.

The Green Diamond is the Scatter symbol in the game and it can land on all of the reels. Another important detail in the game is that all of the regular symbols from the paytable can land stacked across the reels.

Free Spins Bonus

Once you land 3 or more of the Green Diamond Scatters on the screen you trigger the free spins bonus. Initially, you are awarded 6 free spins. The screen is divided into 4 sections, each with a 5×5 grid. The bonus starts with the top left section active. A wild symbol 1×1 positions big, is persistent on the reels for the entire feature. It will move to a random position on the screen in each spin.

You need to collect a total of 3 Greed Diamonds to unlock the next section on the reels, unlocking another persistent wild on that section. The best part is that it will be the same size as the wild which you unlocked in the previous section. Each time you unlock a new section you get a random number of extra free spins.

But this is where things get interesting. During the bonus, another Blue Diamond Scatter is introduced. You need to collect 3 Blue Diamonds in a single section to get one extra free spin. Each time 3 of the diamonds are collected the Wild will also grow one position in size. So what starts as a 1×1 wild can end up as a massive 5×5 wild.

But the genius part of the feature is that all wilds act alone. So in each section, the collected blue diamonds only increase the size of the wild in that section. Each time you collect 3 diamonds you get one extra free spin. In the end, you can end up with a big number of extra free spins and big wilds in each of the sections. This is the detail I like the most and I think it makes the game much more exciting and lucrative.

As in the original release, Juicy Fruits Multihold offers players a chance to instantly buy the bonus round. You will need to spend 200x the stake and hit the Buy Free Spins button on the left side of the reels.

Comparison with Other slots

An obvious comparison would be with the original Juicy Fruits slots. Don’t get me wrong, I like the original, but I feel Juicy Fruits Multihold has a lot more to offer. Apart from the standard weak paytable, I can’t see any drawbacks with Juicy Fruits Multihold. The slot is based on an already popular name, so there should be no lack of players giving it a try. The bonus round is great since you can independently grow the wilds on each reel. The maximum payout is set at 8,000x the stake, which is higher than the original, so overall Juicy Fruits Multihold is a great slot.

A Decade of Playing Slots

Even after playing slots for over a decade my most favorite games are the ones where you can get a bunch of Wilds in the bonus round. This is usually when the biggest payouts in slots can land and these types of games have always caught my attention. But it’s also very exciting to see one of your favourite slots get a sequel, especially when it’s done right. I always like to try sequels of popular Pragmatic Play games, especially great ones like Juicy Fruits. The Multihold version is much more interesting since the bonus round has a lot more to offer. It’s very exciting watching each wild grow and if you can get all 4 of them to the top 5×5 size you are looking at a 1,600x the stake payout per spin.
