Rise of Maya comes from NetEnt, a developer with an excellent reputation, one of the top providers of slot machines and other casino games.
It’s present in the online gambling market, and it always seems to offer excellent graphics in their slots. Often enough, the features are also very good, and I’d include Rise of Maya among those fun slots of theirs.
How To Play It
The regular bets of Rise of Maya will be somewhere between $0.10 and $75, depending on the coin value that the player is comfortable using. You have coin values between $0.01 and $7.50, for each of those 10 lines.
A Bonus Bet can be activated by the player, and this will double the amount that you’re using for the upcoming round. This way, the betting range becomes $0.20 to $150. What this does, is boost the odds of hot reels and free spins triggering.
You’re looking at a game with 5×3 reels, which activates 10 paylines for each round.
The wilds are fairly often present in the game, and there are even several versions for them to land in. The regular wild is there, but so are stacked Serpent wilds or expanding versions. This influences how they show up and the number of positions they occupy on the reels, but that’s it. They are regular substitutes otherwise, without any multipliers. The stacked version is reserved for free spins, landing on hot reels.
Scatter nudges will trigger in random moments, and will be offered for losing rounds only. It brings scatters or wilds to the game area, turning the spin into a winner.
You can combine wilds and scatters in an unusual way here, with 3 or more being used to get you to the free spins. The triggering reels are turned Hot, and then 15 rounds follow. You can get Hot Reels to land stacked Serpent wilds on them.
If you’ve used the Bonus Bet in the initial spin, then triggering the feature is easier, as re-spins are provided for the rounds where only two scatters or wilds are present.
I like what Rise of Maya does with its rewards. The game’s going to pay 6,000x the stake at most, which is a good return for any slot machine. The one point that would be a downside, is the medium to high volatility that is associated with that prize. It’s not something unexpected though, a game can’t pay a lot of money without increasing the risk for individual players.
It’s important to note that the RTP is at the expected level though, of 96.12% to 96.42%, same as every other major release.
One in four spins will be a winner, on average, so there is plenty of action to keep you busy, even with that higher volatility.
Rise of Maya is one of the enjoyable new slots that NetEnt is offering, a game with higher volatility than most of their releases, and much better payouts as well. They might be known for the slots they put out for casual players, but they seem to be targeting a different type of audience here.
