Theme of The Game
There are a lot of things about Scroll of Dead that will feel familiar, particularly if you’ve played slot machines for a while. The Ancient Egypt theme, and Cleopatra’s image, are among those that you will have seen plenty of times before. I have to hand it to Play n GO though, the slot has a good design, and it does a good job in delivering the right atmosphere and symbols. And then, there is that 6th reel as well, locked for the most part, but opening up when the time is right.
It all starts with the mix of Royals, symbols that do get an Egyptian style to their design, but otherwise they’re not related to the theme/story. The more appropriate symbols are the ones showing us things like the Ankh, Horus, Cobra, Cleopatra, or the Scarab (wild and scatter).

How To Play It
You can change pretty much everything about the game’s wager, even the number of active lines. With all lines active, there are 10 to 50 coins used, while the coin value is between $0.01 and $2. A full range of $0.10 to $100 is used.
You play this slot pretty much the same way as every other Book-style game, at least in the base game. You have 10 active lines, 5×3 reels, and combinations will form left to right.
Special Features
The base game is not where you should expect any extra features in Scroll of Dead. It’s a standard Book-style slot there, only it doesn’t have an actual Book for its feature trigger. It’s a Scarab instead, the one that’s both the wild and a scatter.
As the wild, you get to use it in new winning combinations, acting as a substitute.
As a scatter, it matters more how many times it lands, as 3 or more are needed to get you paid (up to 200x the stake for 5 of them) and to trigger free spins.
You get 8 free spins, where a 6th reel is unlocked. There is also the standard special symbol that this type of slot relies so heavily on. It’s selected from among the regular symbols, and the best bet would be to get Cleopatra in that role. Special symbols expand at the end of the round, and get you paid even if they’re scattered on their lines (don’t need to be adjacent).
Since there is a 6th reel now, potential wins have gone from 5,000x the stake, to 7,500x the stake.
Maximum Payouts
The ultimate payout, which requires Cleopatra special symbols expanding on the 6 reels during free spins, will give you 7,500x the stake. This goes beyond what Book-style slots will pay, as most are going up to 5,000x. Definitely an improvement, but the volatility is as high as ever, while the RTP is at 96.28%.
Summary
Scroll of Dead looks like it’s doing more than enough to provide players with something new and exciting. If you’re tired of the standard Book slots, the use of a 6th reel and bigger top jackpots might make this one a more interesting pick.
