How To Play It
As ELK Studios uses a betting strategy mechanic in all their games, they tend to go with the same range for their bets. They’re using 100 coins in each round’s bet, and you can change the total amount wagered between $0.20 and $100.
What you’re going to find inside, is a setup with 6×4 reels, where you can form winning combinations via 4096 ways to win. The requirement is to get 3-6 matching symbols on adjacent reels, left to right, and that gets you paid.
A Dropping mechanic will trigger after any winning combination that you’re forming. As you do this, you will find that the winning symbols will be removed, and replaced with others. At the same time, the game area expands by one row. With enough new winning combinations and drops, you could get up to 6×8 reels (double the original game area) with 262,144 ways active.
A wild symbol will be included, and will be used as a substitute when appropriate.
Regardless of the type of symbol, regular or wild, there is a chance that you will get them in larger sizes (up to 4×4). If a large symbol drops down, and doesn’t occupy all available positions because of their size, then the remaining spots are taken over by regular-sized symbols, but of the same type as they are. Often though, these big symbols clear other symbols found under them when they drop.
During these drops, you may sometimes get Zulu Stacks, up to 4-symbols high, using regular symbols in them.
Besides regular wilds, there are Charged Wilds as well, which have a number of lives that you’re using when forming wins. They turn into regular wilds eventually.
Wild Walkers are substitutes coming from symbol drops, which move in random directions and transform covered symbols into extra wilds.
Via 3+ bonus symbols, you can get 10 to 25 free drops. The size of the game area resets to the lowest row size, and it goes up by 1 row after each drop. In this mode, there are random multiplier symbols that are collected and applied to all wins. This value goes up during free spins, never down.
The game is highly volatile, it can pay quite well (10,000x the stake, or $1,000,000), but at the same time it has a below average RTP of 95%.
I think that you’re going to enjoy Zulu Gold, it doesn’t even matter if you were already a fan of the Kane series. However, the 95% RTP is one major downside for it, which we haven’t seen in some of the company’s older slots.
