Pile 'Em Up
Theme of The Game
Pile ‘Em Up’s entire idea appears to revolve around fruits and piles of gold coins. You don’t really see the latter on the reels, it’s mostly fruits and gemstones that land there. The entire setup is placed between golden tubes, so it looks like the symbols drop from one tube into the other, as the reels spin. The graphics style is a bit on the childish side, but it’s enjoyable and well done.
First, there are the fruit symbols, with the plum, watermelon, lemon, and strawberry. The next four symbols are the gemstones, colored in blue, green, yellow, and red. A pink Heart Bonus gem, a Free Spins flower, and a W Box, are the feature symbols that will make an appearance from time to time.
Developer
While it’s usually called a Microgaming slot machine, it should be mentioned that the company that actually designed it is called Snowborn Games. They’re also the developers behind slots like Cat Clans, Masters of Valhalla, or Miami Glow, to give you some examples of other collaborations they had with Microgaming.
How To Play It
As soon as you’ve decided on the amount you want to use in your bet, you’re good to go. The value you go with can only be selected from the range of $0.20 to $30.
It might look different, but the core action is the same one you see in most slots. You get 5×3 reels, and 20 active lines are formed within that area. A combo requires 3 to 5 matching symbols, appearing left to right on the same line.
Special Features
Some of the symbols that will land on the reels are going to show Coins and prizes on them (0.2 to 50x the stake each one). To collect these, you need the Collect Magnet on the 5th reel. The Coins are multiplied with the Coin Booster value first, before they’re collected.
To get a better Coin Booster value, you need 1Up Coins on the reels. Each one boosts it by 1x. The max multiplier is 10x, and it resets once it’s used during a Collection.
The yellow box marked with the W logo will serve as a substitute, as expected. It’s also the type to pay by itself, if it can occupy one of the lines alone. It pays up to 111x the stake then.
For access to the Flower Free Spins, you need the Flower scatter landing on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th reels. You’re getting 9 spins initially, but you can get 3 or 9 more if there are 2-3 scatters present on the reels in this mode. You start with the Coin Booster from the triggering spin, and it can be applied to the Coins collected from all free spins, but it’s not a guarantee that you will get this prize.
The Heart Bonus is another one that you can get, and you collect them from all reels. Once they’ve appeared on all reels at least once, the feature can trigger. This one has 3 bonus spins for you, where you get Coin symbols to land and remain sticky. The spins reset back to 3 whenever new Coins appear. At the end, you collect prizes from all Coins and you use the Coin Booster multiplier on them.
Maximum Payouts
The top payout of Pile ‘Em Up is worth 7,500x the stake, which is pretty good. As with a lot of other slot machines, this one also has high volatility, but the RTP is 96.22%.
Summary
Pile ‘Em Up has cute graphics and pretty good rewards, along with a series of special features that feel powerful. Overall, it’s a slot machine that you should give a chance to.
