I had to give Fire Portals the benefit of the doubt and put it to the test. I was a bit disappointed to see two wilds merge into one as I thought it was a disadvantage in the bonus round. But after a few smaller payouts two wilds merged into one resulting in a x48 multiplier. This is where it hit me and became clear how the wilds in the feature actually work. This made it clear that the bonus perks in Fire Portals are actually great and you can get some pretty high win multipliers on the screen. Eventually, I managed to land a big payout, just shy of 1,000x. This proved to me that Fire Portals is actually a great slot with a lot to offer in the bonus round.

 

Bonus Features and Payouts

I already said that Fire Portals is a cluster pays slot, where wins are formed with 5 or more symbols that are connected horizontally or vertically. In addition to this is the tumble feature. Once a win lands on the reels the symbols are removed. New ones will drop from the top to fill the empty spaces, leaving you with a chance to land more wins.

In addition to the tumbles, you have the Fire Portal Wild Feature. Every time a win happens a Wild is created in a random position of one of the winning symbols. The Wild will have a starting multiplier of x1. After the tumble, it will move one position in any direction where the winning combination took place. If the wild contributes to another win the multiplier increases by 1.

If two wilds contribute to the same winning combination they will merge into one Wild. But their multiplier will be multiplied together. So if you have two wilds with an x4 multiplier they will now become a single wild with an x16 win multiplier. This is where the real payout potential of the game can be seen. You can get more wilds to merge into one and get a single one with a huge multiplier. After that, you just need that wild to contribute to a big cluster for a mega payout.

You need many consecutive payouts with a wild to reach the higher levels and get one high multiplier. But if you manage to merge that one with another decent multi you can easily score some massive payouts on the reels.
