Playing Gates of Olympus can be a real roller coaster at times. You can go for hundreds of spins and not land the feature. Other times the bonus can land pretty fast and pay big. I’ve had some great wins on the game, but sadly those 500x the stake multis and the maximum payout remain elusive on my screen. I can’t say I’m not disappointed by this as I have seen other players try the game just a few times and land the max win. But that’s just my luck so far and I know one of these days a bonus with my name on it is going to land.

For Gates of Olympus, the designers went with the symbols pay anywhere on the screen feature. This means you need to land at least 8 matching symbols across the reels, regardless of their position, to get a win. This design is used in many of their slots, like Sweet Bonanza. This is also one of the few slots that don’t have a Wild symbol.

The game also comes with a Tumble feature. Once a win lands on the screen all of the symbols that form it are removed from the screen and the rest of the symbols fall to the bottom. Then a new set of symbols falls from the top, so you can get more wins in a single spin. There’s no limit to how many winning tumbles you can get per spin, so the payouts can be quite high.

But the best part of the game is the win win multipliers. They can land both in base play and in the free spins bonus. What’s even more attractive is the fact that you can land more than one multiplier per spin, so their values are added together. The total multiplier is then applied to the total win of the spin, including all successful tumbles.

To trigger the feature in Gates of Olympus you need to land 4, 5, or 6 scatters anywhere on the screen. Regardless of the number of triggering scatters you are awarded 15 free spins. If you manage to land 3 or more scatters during the feature you will get an additional 5 free spins, on top of the ones you already have.

During the feature on the left side of the reels you have the multiplier meter and on the right side is the animation of Zeus. You can land multis on the reels or Zeus can raise his hand and add more multis on the screen. Each multiplier that is awarded on the screen and is part of a win is added to the multiplier meter. The total multi is then applied to the overall win. This is why the multiplier meter can go very high and why Gates of Olympus can produce great payouts.

Comparison with Other slots

As I mentioned before the easiest comparison of Gates of Olympus is with the new Starlight Princess slot game. These are basically the same games in terms of payouts and most features but come with different visuals. Some similarities can also be found in Sweet Bonanza, with the win multipliers in the bonus round. But on Sweet Bonanza slot the top payout is over 21, 000x the stake, so may want to give it a try as well.

Benefits and Drawbacks

Gates of Olympus is a very fun and exciting slot to play. Once you trigger the bonus round you are always on edge as you are waiting for that 500x multi to hit the screen. If two of them land then you are 99% to the max payout. But you need to be aware that Gates of Olympus is a highly volatile slot. You can lose a lot of money playing it and not get any decent wins in return. The most important thing to know about this game is when to cut your losses and stop. You can always come back another day and give it a try.

Gates of Olympus™ is one of the best slots ever released. I love everything about this game and so do many other players. The visuals and animations are spot on, and the bonus round is very fun and exciting. The high multis give you a chance to score some massive wins, and many times this has been a profitable slot for me.
